Pixabay images are royalty free, even for commercial use, making it an easy way to get images for your short stories.

Pixlr X Editor

“The free modern photo editor by Pixlr. Start editing by clicking on the open photo button, drag n’ drop a file, paste from the clipboard.”

A great free tool to edit photos. The best part is the ability to “magic cut” the background of any image in cutout tab. This can allow you to make a picture transparent, which in turn can be used for your story artwork.

A great tool for weird and wacky words—whether you’re writing or just interested in the English language, The Phrontistery is a fascinating website with words you most likely never knew existed.

The Writing Compendium of The Writer’s Anonymous

“A collection of useful tips and tricks found in the process of writing. The tips and ideas included in this document are unanimously agreed upon by each member of The Writing Forge. This way, half-truths are avoided, and we home in on what it takes to make a great story.”

We use it all the time . . . even though we created it.

Not only is notion a great way to outline your novels and short stories, but it’s also what we use at The Forge to keep track of ourselves.
